Funds allocated for refugees will be greatly reduced, according to a new plan developed by the Ministry of the Interior, which will be presented in Parliament next month.

The economy of Cyprus does not allow the government to carry out housing policies for refugees, which was supposed to be implemented in 2014, as the budget of Cyprus in 2013 has decreased by 39% compared with the year 2012. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Socrates Hasikos.

Hasikos noted that the government housing policy for Refugees will now include more rigorous criteria in order to help the greatest possible number of people.

He explained that the allocated funds were reduced from 113 million euros in 2012 to 71 million in 2013. He also said that he will be able to provide more information after Parliament's consideration of the bill.
